Role Overview

Healthcare security requires empathy, vigilance, and clear communication. In this role, you will help maintain a safe, welcoming, and secure environment for patients, families, healthcare professionals, and staff at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre.

As a Casual Healthcare Security Officer, you are a crucial presence on the frontline of community care. This position offers flexible, as-needed shift work, competitive hourly compensation, and options for daily pay.

What Success Looks Like

  • Access & Surveillance Control: Monitor security cameras and access points, ensuring restricted facility areas remain secure and authorized.

  • De-escalation & Conflict Resolution: Use calm, professional verbal communication to resolve tense or challenging situations involving patients, visitors, or callers.

  • Emergency Response: Respond swiftly to medical calls, security alerts, fire alarms, and evacuation procedures in close coordination with hospital staff and local emergency services.

  • Detailed Reporting: Maintain clean, factual, and accurate daily activity logs and incident reports.

  • Support Healthcare Personnel: Assist medical staff with visitor management, policy enforcement, and general safety protocols.
