Position Title: Casual Security Guard
Employment Type: Casual / Part-Time
Pay Rate: $18.70 (Varies from site to site)
Site: Various Sites in Hamilton Region (Hamilton and Burlington) or Halton Region (Oakville, Milton, Georgetown, and Burlington)
Schedule: Various Hours (Continental, Rotating shifts); minimum requirement of 4 shifts per month
Overtime Methodology: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
Site Overview
This role supports a variety of client environments across the Hamilton and Halton regions, with a strong focus on healthcare facilities. You will work in dynamic environments—including hospitals and outpatient sites—where delivering a secure, welcoming, and safe atmosphere for patients, staff, and visitors is essential.
What You'll Be Doing
Providing continuous observation and watch for patients requiring extra safety supervision.
Conducting regular foot patrols of facility grounds, hallways, parking areas, patient rooms, and entryways.
Monitoring security cameras and alarm systems, reporting any safety concerns promptly.
Managing access control points to ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
Responding swiftly and professionally to emergency situations, security threats, and fire alarms.
Assisting visitors, patients, and healthcare staff with directions and general customer service.
De-escalating tense situations using calm and professional communication skills.
Writing clear, accurate incident reports and daily activity logs.
Enforcing facility rules and visitor policies.
Must Haves
Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C certification from a WSIB-approved provider.
Proof of two doses of COVID-19 vaccination.
Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, and a 2-step TB skin test.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) (candidates without these can complete Paladin's unpaid pre-onboarding training, with course costs fully covered by Paladin in exchange for a 6-month commitment).
Legal authorization to work in Canada.
Nice-to-Haves
Valid G class Driver's License with a clean 3-year abstract.
Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field.
