In this role, success means combining empathy with alertness and making calm, professional decisions during critical moments. Your daily duties and ongoing impact will include:

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure Secure Access: Manage access control into and out of facilities, investigating and reporting any irregularities promptly.
• Conduct Active Patrols: Patrol indoor and outdoor facility grounds, identifying risks such as unlocked doors, blocked emergency exits, mechanical issues, or hazardous materials.
• Support Patient Safety: Monitor patient safety areas and communicate any updates or concerns directly to Protective Services and nursing staff.
• Monitor Systems & Property: Keep a watchful eye on security cameras, facility property, and active events to maintain order and prevent incidents.
• Respond to Emergencies: React quickly, calmly, and effectively to alarm systems and urgent calls for assistance.
• Maintain Accurate Documentation: Write clear, detailed, and objective incident reports and keep complete shift logs according to site regulations.

Position Requirements

Must-Haves

• Work Authorization: Legally authorized to work in Canada.
• Licensing: A current Alberta Security License, or the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Physical Capability: Ability to walk 18 to 20 kilometers per shift and climb multiple flights of stairs routine during patrols.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional, tactful demeanor when interacting with the public and hospital personnel.
• Decision-Making: Demonstrated ability to remain composed, act decisively, and perform well under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Discretion: High level of integrity and discretion when handling private and confidential information.

Nice-to-Haves

• Previous experience in security, public safety, or customer-facing roles within a healthcare setting.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
