Start your new career as a Contract TIG Welder with MAU at AVANTech in Columbia, SC. As a Contract TIG Welder, you will perform precision TIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and duplex stainless steel piping assemblies, ensuring high-quality welds that meet ASME pressure vessel and piping codes. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

What We're Looking For:

• Ability to TIG weld pipes ranging from 1/2 inch to 36 inches in diameter in all positions
• Ability to successfully complete a fixed 6G position welding test
• Proficiency in operating a high-frequency amperage control foot pedal while welding
• Ability to weld structural steel in all positions
• Knowledge of filler wire selection based on base metal type
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and welding symbols
• Understanding of ASME pressure vessel and piping welding standards

What You'll Do as a Contract TIG Welder:

• Perform Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG) on carbon steel, stainless steel, and duplex stainless steel
• Produce high-quality welds that meet ASME pressure vessel and piping codes
• Prepare pipe fittings and pipe ends for full-penetration welds on piping assemblies
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols for piping assemblies and skids
• Calculate pipe fitting take-outs and piping measurements to ensure accurate fabrication
• Weld piping components in multiple positions while maintaining quality and precision
• Select appropriate filler wire for various base metals and welding applications
